MULTI-ROOM REDECORATION · HEATON, NEWCASTLE
A fresh chapter for a home full of character.
Careful preparation, rich colour and botanical wallpaper transformed the living room, bedroom, hallway and staircase of this Heaton home, complementing its stained glass and original decorative details.

THE PROJECT
The work behind the transformation.
Each space needed its own approach: stripping and lining the living room ceiling and frieze, sealing water stains in the bedroom, and repairing cracks throughout the staircase. These before-and-after photographs show how preparation and considered finishes brought the rooms together.
Living room: careful preparation, rich colour
We stripped the existing wallpaper from the ceiling and frieze, filled and sanded the surfaces, then hung Wallrock lining paper to both areas. The varnished door and window were sanded back and grip-primed, with full preparation of the ceilings, walls and woodwork.
The ceiling was finished in Albany AF1 White, the frieze in School House White and the walls in Durable Matt, Nimes Blue. Aqua Guard Satin in Shaded White completed the woodwork.

Bedroom: from stained surfaces to a fresh finish
The bedroom needed substantial preparation, with water staining to the ceiling and bay window area. We treated and sealed the stains, stripped the old wallpaper, sanded back and grip-primed the stained timber windows, and thoroughly sanded ceilings, walls and woodwork using our dustless sanding system. Imperfections were made good before decorating.
The ceiling was finished in Albany AF1 White, the walls in Durable Matt, Douter, and the woodwork in Johnstone’s Aqua Guard Satin, Shaded White. A Graham & Brown wallpaper feature wall brings pattern and depth around the fireplace.

Hallway and staircase: bringing the details together
The hallway and staircase formed the final stage of the larger renovation project. We raked out and repaired cracks, then thoroughly sanded and made good the ceilings, walls and woodwork.
Ceilings and coving were finished in Albany AF1 White, with Durable Matt in Elephant’s Breath on the walls and Aqua Guard Satin in All White on the woodwork. The finished decoration sets off the stained glass, decorative mouldings and original staircase details.
