INTERIOR TRANSFORMATION · SHIREMOOR, NORTH TYNESIDE

A bold new look, from room to room.

Rich wall colour, black staircase details and a colour-matched downstairs toilet bring a distinctive finish to this Shiremoor home. A living room, hallway and staircase redecoration showing the difference careful preparation and a considered colour scheme can make.

Finished Shiremoor hallway with dark walls, black satin staircase and timber handrail

The preparation behind the finish.

We thoroughly sanded and prepared the ceilings, walls and woodwork across the living room, staircase and downstairs toilet before decorating. The woodwork was undercoated ready for its new satin finish. White ceilings, coordinated walls and woodwork, and contrasting staircase details bring the spaces together.

Hallway and staircase: a striking contrast.

The lighter hallway and white staircase were transformed with Studio 93 walls and coordinated woodwork. We used Johnstone’s Durable Matt on the walls and Acrylic Satin in Studio 93 on the woodwork. The banister and stringers were prepared and painted with Zinsser AllCoat Satin in black, contrasting with the timber handrail. Ceilings were finished in Crown Covermatt White.

Living room: rich colour and a fresh finish.

The living room was thoroughly prepared before the walls were finished in Johnstone’s Durable Matt in Studio 93. Undercoated woodwork was completed in matching Acrylic Satin, with Crown Covermatt White on the ceiling. The deep colour sets off the pink sofa, timber floor and greenery.

Downstairs toilet: colour drawn from the tiles.

For the downstairs toilet, the walls and woodwork were colour-matched to the floor tiles. Durable Matt on the walls and Acrylic Satin on the woodwork create a coordinated finish, with the warm colour complementing the patterned flooring.
